  • Singing voices both indoors and outdoors – some in tune, some almost in tune!
  • Flickering candles floating down the river in the evening darkness, introspection and sensitivity!
  • Sharing grace before meals, giving thanks through song with beautiful harmony!
  • Excitement, relief after successfully swimming the increasingly strong currents far from shore!
  • Anticipating carefully but quickly descending the high hillside steps down to the beach!
  • Cultivating a love and appreciation of nature’s treasures – continually in need of protection!
  • Stepping into water’s edge, initially but briefly chilly, soon to cool the senses!
  • Safely chopping wood and building campfires that eventually begin to light!
  • Preparing sticks, roasting marshmallows, enjoying the first yummy s’mores delight!
  • Having great fun with activities – even when hot and buggy!
  • Our cabins, our special summer homes with numerical identities – pride, ownership!
  • Exciting moments during the flurry of banging shutters followed by scurrying people sounds!
  • Beautiful scenic river discoveries on canoe trips and during short rowing ventures to the rock!
  • Nature hikes with interesting challenges and natural beauty – cool flowing waterfalls!
  • Sleepy morning wakeup time with scratchy reveille!
  • Quiet time after lunch for individual relaxation or small gatherings with soft voices!
  • Cabin conversations and readings before bedtime, sharing highlights of each day!
  • Natural noises of the night – new and sometimes little eerie noises!
  • Sleeping under the stars on a beautiful evening – sightings of shooting stars, morning dew droplets!
  • Sharing the inner effects of the outdoor chapel – the rows of trees, the stone altar, the blessed cross!
  • Christmas in summer – a time for sharing, opening hearts, celebrating, and for giving many thanks!
  • Settling in for the evening, reliving moments of the day, quite solitude during the playing of taps!
  • Early morning mist on the mountain, across the campground, and over the river!

  • Growing and deepening spirituality – one with heaven and nature!
  • Cherishing Hagan friendships as time passes, reconnecting through the years!
  • Healing poison oak and ivy itches, tiny splinters, mini cuts and bruises!
  • Feelings of bliss while on the water – drifting, rowing, paddling, bobbing!
  • Swapping contents of bag lunches with funny scrunched up faces!
  • Great surprise and joy when receiving a letter or postcard!
  • Working on a mural to be displayed in Great Hall for all to enjoy!
  • Eating canteen goodies and shared baked goods from home!
  • Bouncing in the Hagan truck while on the way to a special destination – laughter and song!
  • Gathering at the council fire ring for celebrations, songs, and stories!
  • Glorious, beautiful bonfires – dancing flames and flurries of glowing sparks!
  • Reconnecting with camp friends and making new friends every summer!
  • Excitedly paddling through rapids as boulders closely and swiftly pass by!
  • Feeling mesmerized and drawn inward by the natural surroundings of the river and mountains!
  • Helping a homesick cabin mate increasingly feel better, then laughing together!
  • Sharing scary ghost stories – the Green Eye Picker, the Hook, etc.!
  • Overcoming fears of learning a new game or sport and succeeding with fairly skillful play!
  • Gazing at an intricately spun spider’s web as the sun enhances the beauty of the weave!
  • Looking up to see the sunlight through the leaves or pine needles, illuminating, golden rays!
  • A multitude of learning opportunities, a multitude of new life experiences!
  • Enjoyment of life with cabin mates – sharing ups and downs, thoughts, and great moments!
  • Busy daily schedules, a flurry of camp activities with abundant chatter and giggles!
  • Sounds of driving rain – of quiet stillness – of gentle breezes – of lapping waters!
  • Slow motion visions of campers at play, each moving to her own rhythm and desires!
  • Silently sitting in wonderful thought while viewing the river through trees from high upon the hill!
  • And with warm reflection always to be continued……
